Jessica’s Place is a cosy café tucked away on Rosemary Road in Clacton-on-Sea, offering a straightforward yet satisfying breakfast and lunch experience. The spot is popular among locals searching for a dependable cooked breakfast, especially late in the morning when others have already packed up their breakfast menus. If you’re someone who struggles to find a morning meal after noon, Jessica’s is a practical choice.

The atmosphere balances a casual, homey vibe with a touch of personal charm. Jessica, the owner and sole operator during many visits, gives it a distinct, intimate feel that might not be found in larger, busier cafés. While service is brisk given it’s often a one-person show, a little patience helps as everything is made with care. The background soundtrack can be a bit eclectic, with kitchen tunes competing with the front radio, which adds to the café’s relaxed, if slightly quirky, character.

The menu sticks to classic café staples – the English Breakfast, ham omelette, and scrambled eggs receive particular attention from visitors and come across as reliable and well-prepared choices. Portions are well-presented and priced reasonably, making it a sensible spot for a daily fuel-up or a casual brunch. Extras like a panini with salad and crisps show attention to a balanced midday meal as well.

Jessica’s Place feels like a practical neighborhood stop where locals come to enjoy a quiet meal without fuss. It’s especially fitting for mid-morning or lunchtime visits when you want something freshly cooked but informal. The café’s scale and single-person operation mean it shines brightest when approached with relaxed expectations and an appreciation for the personal touch behind the counter.

Came here for the first time today and really enjoyed my visit here. Staff member was friendly and welcoming. My cooked breakfast was excellent. The service was quick, and the prices are very reasonable. I will be coming back soon and will definitely try lunch and their after food soon.

We’ve had a lovely meal at Jessica’s place. She was completely on her own, but the food was good, and even quiet quick. Guests should be a bit patient because she is hosting by herself, Jessica could perhaps smile more but we did come in towards the end of summer. The music playing in the kitchen was bangin, really great tunes, but it conflicted a little bit with the radio at the front of the venue for the guests. We’ll definitely be back! - smile more and don’t be afraid to play the music you like through the whole venue, we like it too! :) Thankyou for a lovely meal. Becca

Food: The food was very nice. Some confusion on what was available since there was old menus out for some reason. My partners food was delicious. Both the food was well presented. My beans were barely warm but that’s my only complaint. The Panini came with salad and crisps which I thought was amazing. Waiting time: Short waiting time. We came at lunch and expected a longer wait but was relatively short. Wasn’t busy at this time. Atmosphere: The design of the cafe is very unusual. There is paintings of naked women on the wall as well as a kids reading area nearby. The music was too loud, was difficult to make conversation due to this. The layout of the tables were unusual too. I feel like there isn’t a clear overall theme of the area. Staff: Staff were polite, some confusion when ordering but nothing major. Seemed nice, no major overall interaction. Pricing: I feel like the menus needs to be completely redone. There is no clear sectioning on food. For example there was dinner food next to lunch food. Pricing was good. We were both pleasantly surprised by the portion. Overall review: I would give this place a 7/10. This cafe has been here for a while and just needs to get things arranged better for it to gain a higher score. I feel like it’s a nice cafe to go to for lunch.

A friend and I stumbled on this lovely new cafe in town. It is of a modern fashionable design. I loved the big open fronted bay doors, perfect for summer. A lovely as the place looks, the food however is the star of the show! Best scrambled egg I’ve ever had, the mushrooms where amazing! The meat was not cheap generic rubbish! All of the food was fresh and to a very high standard. I will certainly be returning again soon.
